.: july 2010: project hanoi
If you know Corko (if not, it's a bloody right boring story anyway), you know that
I have a history with more than several software and tech companies, and that I have
a long background on both sides of the interview table.
The truth is that I have made decisions both good and bad when it comes to
interviews, candidates, and companies to work for. Welcome to the human race, yeah?
But there is nothing like an interview to keep your skills sharp, to learn about
other companies, and - sometimes - to eat some nice, big, tasty pieces of humble pie.
I recommend interviewing to anyone. If your ego can take it.
Anyway, I not-very-recently was interviewed by a certain software company. It liked
the company but ended up not making the switch. I'll leave the diatribe alone, but
they did ask me the uber-notorious towers-of-hanoi problem. Since it was a remote
interview, I googled it(...:-)...) to keep egg off my face, because it was nearly 20
years since I really gave a damn about the towers-of-hanoi. Most of the 20 years
have been spent solving real problems....but I digress....
.: july 2008: project kotzenstrat
It started out with me listening to a couple Richie Kotzen songs. I was immediately hooked on the
seriously good guitar playing, killer lyrics, and great vocals. The guy has talent. Naturally I wanted to duplicate some
of his tone, but alas, his signature models aren't sold in the US (and I don't trust guitar purchases on ebay, sorry ebay!).
Thus was borne the idea to clone Richie's guitar setup, based on a stock American Fender Tele. If you like guitars, you might dig
this.
Note - this pic is most definitely Corko and NOT Richie Kotzen!!
.: july 2009: project recordoccio
Okay, there are some people that have asked for some recordings. So I acquired the necessary hardware and software...
but the lack of talent is something that will take more work. Links will appear here as I get over that one.
This is one that I call "TestMix1". I was screwing around with drum tracks and just plunked some junk over top.
It seems like about 25 seconds of distorted stupid. But I learned a couple things. And that, brothers and sisters, is a start.
TextMix1
This is one that I call "Just This Once (I'd Like To Hear The Truth)". Its sort of a mellow acoustic thing with some minimalist soloing on top.
I'll hold the emotional diatribe and let you judge it for yourself.
Just This Once
This is a first attempt at recording with the old JS-5 as the backup band. Chicago Blues, hence it is called chiblue.
